Driver factor based Battery Energy Estimation

In the Formula Student competition, accurately sizing the battery for optimal performance is paramount. Our project integrates computer simulations with real-world driver behaviors to determine the energy needs of our car. While simulations show a high-energy demand for peak performance, this doesn’t align with practical driver capabilities. To strike the right balance, we devised a novel approach. Leveraging data we collected from the team’s driver selection events using go-karts, we calculated a driver Aggression parameter. This methodology provides a better structure for thinking about race car energy estimates, aligning with both theoretical potential and realistic on-track usage.
